O meu Vizinho

This month reminds me of a special person, to whom I owe a lot, so I will just leave a note about what this “grandpa” meant to me.
My neighbour, who was much more than this, dedicated his life to his land and goats, as much as he would to the children he never had, and he took every chance to learn and teach. His look at the camera lens was always one of naivety and curiosity, typical of when he wished to learn something else. It was with him that I spent the best Christmas Eve ever: while at home all the preparations were made, I learned to grow peas… We spent hours and hours laughing, because I always ended up not managing to throw the manure as I should, and he repeated “aaah, Rita, you little devil!”.
I will forever miss the tinkle of the goat bell, running through the hills with my brother, looking for Flor and his flock, and listening to his stories for endless hours. I am grateful because once I had a third grandpa!
